The
ethos of the school is to expect and encourage all adults and children
at Cuckoo Hall to respect and help each other at all times. Children
are encouraged to show thoughtfulness and care for each other and for
property whether their own, the school’s or their peers. We
actively discourage and show disapproval for lack of respect for
others’ feelings, opinions and cultures. When a child does something
wrong, we do our best to make it clear to the child what is wrong and
why it is wrong. Sanctions are likely to
include being kept behind at playtimes, missing a privilege, or being
sent to talk to a senior member of staff. For persistent disruptive
behaviour the school has a structured procedure that systematically
records incidents that can be followed up with parents and senior
staff. If there continue to be persistent
difficulties with a child’s behaviour the situation will be brought to
the attention of the parent/s, and a programme of behaviour support may
be put into place. Where appropriate the Headteacher and/or outside
support agencies will also be involved at this stage. In more serious
cases, and should a child’s behaviour become totally unacceptable, the
Headteacher will need to consider the more formal process of exclusion. Copies of our positive behaviour and anti-bullying policies are available from the school office. Click to download positive behaviour policy.
