TIPS & ADVICE

1.Read to your child everyday. Encourage them to read books, comics and newspapers.
 2. Give them plenty of love and encouragement.

3. Set some simple rules and stick to them.

4. See that your child gets enough sleep. Young children should be in bed by 8:00 or 8:30. They are growing and their bodies need sleep. You are an adult and you need and deserve some time to yourself. It may take as long as a month to get your child on a schedule but keep on trying. It is important for both of you.
5. Talk to your child and explain things to them. You are your child's first and most important teacher.
6. Listen to your child. They are willing and able to have very interesting conversations.
7. Be patient. Everyone has their difficult days.

8. Teach them respect for others.

9. Be proud of your child and show it. This builds their self-esteem.

10. Do homework together, everybody needs a little help.
11. Give them a few simple chores to do around the house. It teaches them how to be responsible.
12. Praise them for their efforts and let them know it is okay to get something wrong and try again.

13. Remember to read to them daily. It is the single most important thing you can do to help prepare your child for school.
14. Ask them questions about their day, this will inform you about what they are learning at school and help them consolidate their learning.
15. Let your child know how much you love them.
